Free Pincushion Pattern

Hexie Pincushion:

Cut 2 - 6 inches x 9 inches x fabric and pellon - front and back of pinchushion.

Cut 1 - 6 inches x 11 inches x fabric and pellon – pocket.

 

 You will need - Scraps for hexies and seven Iron-on x ¾ inch EPP iron on hexies by Hugs and Kisses.

Iron the EPP Iron on hexies onto the wrong side of the fabric and fold over raw edges to the back of the hexie – either tack or glue into place.

 

Join the hexies using a matching thread – small slip stitch.

Appliqué the hexies section onto the pocket section.  Pellon is ironed onto the wrong side of the fabric.

 

Fold pocket section in half – 6 inches x 5 ½ inch.

Spot glue the hexie  onto one side of the pocket and hand sew into position using a matching thread.

Topstitch along the fold ¼ inch

Quilt using DMC or Cottage Garden threads.                        

  ¼ inch from the edge of hexie as shown above.

Place pocket onto the top of one of the 6 inch x 9 inch sections  as shown above – and them placing the last section on top as shown below.

Use pins or clips to hold into place and sew a ¼ inch seam around all sides of the pincushion – leaving a small turning gap as shown below...

Clip all corners....

Turn through and push out the corners.

Stuff pin cushion with poly fill or use Walnut shells. Slip stitch your cushion closed.  All done.....

 

Add a pair of lovely scissors some pins and clips for a great gift....
