Machine Quilted & Colourque Table Centre –

2 Classes -           1st Day – 3rd October 2010       $45.00

                            2nd Day – 17th October 2010   $45.00

                           Class from 10am-4pm

This is a quilt as you go table centre. The features of this table centre are the machine quilting and the colour technique of performing appliqué with coloured pencils and a textile medium instead of doing hand appliqué with fabric – hence the term “colourque.” The coulourque is such fine to do and has absolutely no stress to it as we learned to colour in between lines when we were at kindy! To do this table centre you must really have done the beginner’s machine quilting class as this project will extend your quilting skills that you have begun to learn. You will be doing some wonderful fine machine quilting and then adding your colour with your coloured pencils and textile medium to seal the colour. The sashing you choose will also add to the colour of this wonderful table centre. Making this as a quilt as you go project makes all the colouring very easy to do as we are doing everything in small manageable pieces. This is a great class if you would like to try something a bit different and end up with a wonderful coloured table centre that will be admired.

Butterfly Basic Trapunto Quilt –

2 Classes -           1st Day – 21st August 2010        $45.00

                            2nd Day – 4th September 2010     $45.00

                            Class from 10am-4pm

This is a quilt as you go quilt. This is a fabulous way to learn an age old traditional look of both corded trapunto and traditional trapunto with a modern twist! – All the trapunto is done before the 3 layers of the quilt are put together which makes this so very easy to handle. The old fashioned way of trapunto was to make the quilt to its finished stage and then they would slit the backing to push some extra stuffing into the areas that they wished to be “fatter” being trapunto. We don’t do that these days – both the cording and the “stuffing” are done before the quilt is put together and this is all done by machine. You have the option to complete this project to your own personal choice of size. It is all done in 8 ½ inch panels. You can have as many or as few panels as you like and you can make them any length that you would like which means you can do a lap size quilt right up to a full bed quilt but still all done with 8 ½ inch strips. Once all the strips are done then we quilt as you go them all together one strip at a time until all the strips are on and there you have your quilt reading for binding. You really need to have done the beginner’s machine quilting class to be able to manage this quilt. Learning the trapunto on this quilt and doing more background quilting will certainly move your quilting skills forward.

Beginners Machine Quilting –

1 Day Workshop -            Please check with Glenis - workshops are running all the time.      $35.00

                                          Class from 10am-2pm

If you ever wondered just where to begin then this is the best start! We start right at the beginning...! For this workshop we will be using fusible wadding so as not to fuss with pinning at this stage. We want to get right into quilting. You will learn how to start and stop your lines of stitching so they won’t come undone. We will play around with “free motion” quilting and I will show you some easy free motion designs for you to keep practicing at home. I will also show you how to put a design on your quilt without marking it by using my “quilt and tear” method. This workshop has proven itself many times over and is the ultimate start in to the world of domestic machine quilting... you will be surprised what you will end up doing!
